NEW Pictorial Evaluation Tools Print E-mail

Following in the sequence of PETs (Pictorial Evaluation Tools), AA International Ltd has been requested by UN FAO to prepare 2 new PET manuals for use in Somalia, PET- Crops and PET - Livestock.

You may download a free copy of the Pictorial Evaluation Tool for Ethiopia from www.techtalk-international.com.

The PET document series comprises manuals prepared by AA International Ltd staff to assist agencies and ministries in adding structure, objectivity and rigour to crop and livestock assessments.

PET manuals are in use in Ethiopia, in South Sudan and in Mozambique (cassava only within the UN FAO - Guidelines for Assessing Cassava).

AA International Ltd has been requseted to produce similar manuals for use in Somalia. This first phase of this work ran during October and November 2009 and involved extensive field work in Somalia, recording and photographing samples of a range of crops and livetstock for inclusion in the manuals. A return visit took place in January 2010, which involved PET training of field staff and further collection of photos.

Such manuals help to explain the process and to add rigour to a process which is frequently conducted by non- agriculturalists.
