We are a leading company of crop and food supply assessors. Crop and Food Supply Assessment Missions (CFSAMs) are a key element of the information gathering activities of the United Nation's Food and Agriculture Organsiation (through their Global Information and Early Warning System, GIEWS). They are rapid appraisals that provide an early indication of national production for staple crops in developing countries which lack reliable domestic information systems. These predictions are used by the United Nation's World Food Programme to analyse the country's food supply situation in the new or forthcoming marketing year, so that it can estimate food deficits and calculate the assistance required to meet them. Thus CFSAMs make essential contributions to the food security of these countries.
CFSAMs involve visits to areas of agricultural production during the growing season, in order to predict crop yield per unit area. These crop yield predictions can then be combined with crop area data, to produce an assessment of total crop production at farm, region or national level. We have been integrally involved in the production of tools that can assist in the rapid assessment of crop production. More information about these can be found by clicking on the link Tool Production for Assessment. AA International Ltd provides the following services with regard to such missions:
