AA International Ltd can design and support community microfinance programmes at both the lowest level (e.g village or neighbourhood) and at a collective level such as a federation of community microfinance banks. This includes the facilitation of their legal status and registration at both levels. This can involve the linking of these organisations to other external financial institutions so that access to capital loans can be attained. The community banks are able to provide a range of financial services including savings, insurance and credit to their members. Since 1994 in Eritrea, there has been a development of a network of village banks which now has evolved to provide microfinance products over the three regions of Debub, Maekel and Anseba.
Rural Banks: 16 created in Eritrea through a EU/World Bank funded programme implemented through ACORD. Peter James, fonder member of AA International Ltd directed and supported this programme in Eritrea managed by Hasabenebi Kafal from its beginning in 1993 to its handover in 2007. Such expertise is now available through AA International Ltd. |
