Our mission is to support the improvement of food and energy security in poor and marginalized countries worldwide. The extensive experience of our staff and associates ensures that we deliver high quality technical expertise. We work with a range of organisations, including multilateral and bilateral agencies, as well as international and local NGO’s.
AA International Ltd is a private company dedicated to providing effective and timely agricultural advice and rural assessments for the promotion and better understanding of food and energy security in rural communities.
We bring together a range of expertise in the field of food security and agricultural development. In the past, we have supported consultancies in eastern Africa and Central Asia, as well as the Middle East. We have developed our own method of rapid crop/forage yield and livestock condition assessments, as well as training materials and tools that enable agricultural officers and smallholder farmers to assess their farm enterprise and improve their farm planning. We also provide expertise in sustainable energy, helping to deliver appropriate small-scale energy solutions for projects and communities in developing countries.
At present, we are a partner in the development of a new Drought and Flood Mitigation Service for Uganda, led by RHEA Group, where we are responsible for the collection of crop yield, livestock condition and farm business data for monitoring, evaluation and ground truthing purposes.
Our staff and associates have a broad range of global experience and skills that lend themselves to the design, management and appraisal of a diversity of agricultural/food security projects and programmes in developing countries. We implement contracts following direct requests for our services or through winning competitive tenders.

As head of capacity building in the Ministry of Water and Environment (MWE) in Uganda, , I value individuals and organisations who effect change using consultative but objective approaches in their work. The MWE has worked closely with AAI, through its affiliated NGO in Uganda – AgriTechTalk Africa and we appreciate the practical approaches to community engagements and the passion to change the quality of life of the rural communities in the most disadvantaged, remote and hard to reach areas of Uganda such as the Karamoja region. AA International exemplifies such a visionary organisation – from a major livestock assessment mission in Karamoja in 2014 and the development of agricultural numeracy modules; to the collection of crop yield and livestock condition data in Uganda, they are an organisation whose work is significantly contributing to the food security of our country and Uganda's ambition to attain a middle income status by 2020. We look forward to a more productive engagement with AAI in the years to come.
I have worked with the AA International staff since a mission in Jordan in 1997 where we were doing animal assessments. I very much look forward to see the next stage of the companies' evolution.
I have worked with AA International on projects in Somalila and Uganda, since they were set up in 2005. Their work is of an excellent standard – the methodologies they have developed are pioneering and have made significant contributions to improved food security assessments in East Africa. They are a very well respected organisation within FAO.
AA International’s founder, Ian Robinson, was world renowned for his work on improving the quality of food security assessments in Africa and beyond. After his untimely passing in 2017, his legacy continues. I have known and worked with AA International for several years – this included their development of modules for improved agricultural numeracy in the field. These simple, step-by-step lessons demonstrate AA International’s logical and effective approach to tackling the problems faced by the world’s most marginalised communities.
We are thoroughly impressed by the tools developed by AA International in regard to teaching Numeracy in conjunction with their affiliated NGO AgriTechTalk Africa based in Uganda. We are looking at rolling out the Uno How modules in country ASAP.
